The Ooni made the appeal in Ile-Ife on Thursday when he registered as a voter at the Enuwa Square registration centre, which is located in the premises of his ancient palace.
The monarch, who was accompanied by all Obas and chiefs in Ile-Ife territory, stated that “all of us who are 18 years and above must come out to register.
“Without registration,” he said, “there is no way we can exercise our franchise when it is time to vote in the general election that is coming up this year.”
Oba Sijuwade, who was assisted in the registration by the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State, Dr Rufus Oloruntoyin Akeju, at about 2.00 p.m, also called on the Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) to look into the problems of areas where there were hitches.
He called on all residents in Ile-Ife and its environs to cooperate with the INEC officials in order to make success out of the current registration exercise.
