Talented Fuji, Juju and highlife musicians that we need to get to know. These are the heroes of our music and Ifeooye is proud to chat with one of them recently; Oluwaseyi Falayi, CEO of THE SY SUPER BAND AND HIS MOEDERN ACES is an Ife based musician from efon-alaye. He talked about his music,the challenges musicians like him are facing and his former boss Jimi Solanke.
IfeOoye (IO): can you tell me your full name, your home town and where are you based?
SY: I am falayi oluwaseyi ayodeji aka(mr super) fron efon alaye based in ile ife
IO: what is the name of your band and the type of song you sing?
SY: sy super and his mordern aces. juju ,highlife both old school and mordern
IO: what makes you want to be a musician?
SY: the bible says give and it will come back to you .just to teach, to make people happy any time any day
IO: since what age you realized you want to be a musician?
SY: about 15 years ago but my father plays organ so is like inheritance
IO: do you have any musical background or training?
SY: yeah 4rm my father and my baba agba jimi solanke
IO: when and where is the first time you perform as a lead singer?
SY: was in rodeo relaxation centre in awoyeku ile ife through a boss mr ayeloja manadex
IO: what are the challenges you are facing as musician?
SY: My instrument is part of it, looking at people doing well for real
IO: do you have any objection from your parent when you first started?
SY: that one is a must no parent will like that
IO: how do you come up with the name sy super?
SY: seyi by name and i need to bring in something big . SUPER
IO: being an ile-ife based, do you think things would have better if you are in lagos or Ibadan?
SY: My God is every where
IO: who do you think you can call your hero among the musicians in Nigeria today?
SY: jimi solanke
IO: are you married or single?
SY: married
IO: do you belong to any music organization?
SY: PMAN
IO: when you are not on stage what other things of interest you do?
SY: listening to my play backs
IO: where do you think you see yourself in the next four years?
SY: higher ground
IO: what advice do you have for upcoming artistes?
SY: having a better focus and to endure
