THE Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade Olubuse 11, has endorsed a documentary-drama, Wind of Change, which is expected to focus on the history of Nigeria since 1914.
Oba Sijuwade gave his royal blessings to the project when the producer of the docu-drama, Prince Olumide Oyewumi, and others working on the project, paid him a courtesy visit recently at the palace in Ile-Ife.
The royal father, while encouraging the producer, said it would make more people,
especially the young, to know more about the history of the country in the last 100 years.
In his address at the palace, the producer, Prince Oyewumi, said he
was seeking the support of the royal father for the project to be a success.
“We all know the stature of the Ooni in the country, and whatever he endorses becomes a success.
“That is why I have decided to come and get Ooni’s blessings,” Prince Oyewumi said, while calling on corporate organisations to support the project.
“The project, written by Dr Bayo Adebowale, is about the history of Nigeria in the last 100 years, and what makes this unique is that artistes would act out all the major players in the history of the country,” Oyewumi said.
On the entourage of the producer were Mr Seyi Womiloju from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation; artistes like Binta Ayo Mogaji, Muyiwa Adegoke, Samson Eluwole, Bimbo Ogunsanya, who is also the director, among others.
