THE Bishop of Ife, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Rt. Rev. Oluranti Odubogun has likened Christian life to that of a warfare.
Announcing of the second Session of the eighth Synod of the Diocese, with the theme: The Lord Is With You, Mighty Warrior”, Odubogun said this is now time to rely on God for strength.
The cleric, who gave the venue of the synod as St. John’s Church, Ilare, Ile-Ife, added that the event would take place from September 19 to 22
.
“This is the period Christians should look unto Jesus as the author and finisher of their faith and refuse to walk by sight. The instructions in the Bible are apt these days, many Christians are undergoing serious burdens of financial, physical, spiritual and emotional dimensions to the extent that they have low self-esteem, which has weakened their faith, making it difficult for them to believe God for miracles.”
The cleric also lamented the spate of insecurity in the nation and instability of the nation’s economy, said that many lives have been terminated, more Nigerians out of job, many kidnapped while many lack the basic needs of life.
He berated the Government’s lackadaisical attitude to the state of infrastructure in the nation, its inability to curb corruption among others and called for urgent revamping of the nation’s economy.
He called on Nigerians to participate in the Divine Commonwealth Conference being organised by the Church of Nigeria, which according to him, would bring about transformation and restoration to the nation.
“As our country turns 53, on October 2013, my prayer is that God would deliver us, arise and scatter all enemies standing in the way of progress of this great nation, heal our land, protect us and do what He has promised. If our government can exalt God and they give priority to the security of lives and property, their efforts will be crowned with success,” he said.
