IOP welcomes Ojutalayo as its 50,000th member

Eunice Wuraola Ojutalayo joined the newly-formed Institute Of Physics (IOP) Nigeria branch this year after a team from the branch visited her university.

Ojutalayo went to the IOP’s London office on 15 November and attended the Branches Forum, before going to the IOP Awards Dinner to be presented with a certificate from the Institute’s president, Frances Saunders.
On her return to Nigeria she will be involved in IOP recruitment campaigns among students.

Ojutalayo, who is from Ile-ife in Osun state, would like to do astrophysics research on leaving university and to stay in academia to pass on her knowledge to others, she says.

The Institute’s head of membership development, Stephanie Richardson, said: “It’s been a great year with the opening of four branches outside of the UK and reaching 50,000 members for the first time. We are delighted that the  50,000th member is from one of those branches, and that she was able to come and celebrate with us at the Awards Dinner.”
