Police arraign 5 for theft of N1.3m

The Police in Osun on Wednesday arraigned five accused persons; Adedeji Babatunde, 50, Egbebode Laurence, 48, Sunday Olawoyi, 54, Oluwafemi Adeniyi, 42, and Akinlolu Sunday, 38 in a Magistrates’ Court for theft of N1.3 million.

The police prosecutor, Insp. Mireti Wilson told the court that the accused committed the offence at Oyere village via Ipetumodu, in Ile Ife with others now at large.


He said they also conspired to steal 70 bags of Cocoa, valued N637, 500 and also took away N500, 000 from a Yemisi Ogunleye.

According to him, they inflicted injuries on three persons in the process and threatened to kill them.

The accused pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to them.

The Magistrate, Olusola Aluko granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100, 000 and two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the case to Dec. 4 for definite hearing.
