TRIBUTES, AS FIRST FEMALE HEAD OF SERVICE IS BURIED

THE remains of the first female Head of Service in the country, Princess Tejumade Alakija were Friday interred in Ile-Ife her hometown with Governors Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state, his counterpart in Ekiti, Kayode Fayemi and Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State eulogising the late technocrat as a rare gem.
  The late princess Alakija, who was a daughter of the late Ooni of Ife, Sir Adesoji Aderemi, was a former Head of Service in defunct Western State.

  Speaking at the funeral service held for the late Alakija at the Saint Peter’s Anglican Church, Iremo, Ile-Ife, Governor Ajimobi said the country has lost another great person who contributed significantly to civil service in the country.
  Ajimobi described Alakija as a disciplined, reliable public servant and urged Nigerians to emulate her sterling qualities and great contributions to the development of the country.
  In his remarks, Governor Aregbesola expressed sadness on the death of Alakija saying, “we will miss her brilliance, courage, dedication and humility.”
 Aregbesola, who was represented by his Deputy, Titi Laoye-Tomori, noted that the death of Alakija was a big loss to the state and prayed God to give the people of the state the courage to bear her loss.
  In his tribute, Fayemi said: “The brilliant performances of Princess Alakija while on earth didn’t go unnoticed
and would continue to speak for her even now that she is no more.”
