Ajayi, a 30-year-old woman, was on Wednesday arraigned in an Ile-Ife Magistrates' Court in Osun for allegedly stealing 20 bags of rice.
Mr Oluranti Osho,Police Prosecutor told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 2 at Olorunsogo Market, Modakeke in Ife, Osun.
Osho said that the accused collected 20 bags of rice, valued at N210,000 from one Risikat Dauda with intent to defraud her. He alleged that the accused promised to pay N210,000 to the complainant after selling the rice when she knew that she would not fulfill the promise.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge against her.
Presiding Magistrate, Mrs Adijat Oloyade, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case to November 6.
