Strong indications emerged last week that cultists might have returned to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
Though, the students cannot tell how the prohibited group might have entered the university, they vowed to combat it by all means.
It was learnt that the generality of the students, on Thursday,March 20th, were shocked when they woke up to see insignia of different cult groups pasted across the school.
"The intended meanings of the poses by the yet to be identified person in the picture, was lost on majority of the students, who can not imagine the boldness of the group responsible for the pictures, but for the students security committee,it was obvious," one of the students said.
Further investigations into the nature of the pictures revealed that it was a message to the Great Ife students that 'their candidate will be contesting in the coming general elections and thus has to win, else there might be peace on campus again."
"It means the candidate of the group responsible for the pictures will contest this Students Union Elections,to be held in April and must win," another student added.
However, many of the students did not take the issue serious until a long convoy of cars sighted on Ede road, off campus, on last Friday night was seen.
"The passengers in the cars were all dressed in red, with an undiscernable logo and writing on the cars as they drove carelessly to where ever they were going, which is the first time such will be seen in a long while."
Another incident that happened on Friday night also raise eyebrows as a non OAU student was caught while attempting to steal the phone of a former Chief Security Officer of the Students Union, Olorunwa Goddey at the new bukateria.
He was caught and during interrogation in the Awo security room, said he was a cultist and "will deal with the security people".
Both the suspected cultist and his friend, who rushed down to support him have been detained.
Their matter was taken to the school security personnels at Floor 0 for further investigations.
