My Vision For Osun State Remains A Burning Desire Within Me- Omisore
Former Deputy Governor of Osun state and a two-time member of the upper legislative chamber, Mr Iyiola Omisore, has blamed the vision he has for Osun State behind his decision to keep his eye on the governorship seat of the state for over a decade.
Mr. Omisore, who said he stepped down for his former boss , Mr Bisi Akande, to run for the governorship position in 1999 out of “respect for the leadership of the Alliance for Democracy”, insisted that “the vision I have for Osun State up till today still remains a burning desire within me”.
He maintained that state has, since 1999, continue to struggle for “improvement and development, noting that “my exposure and experience as a deputy governor for four years, Senator for eight years, has really burnt my desire more to give my state a stable leadership so that other states in this country can be able to appreciate and emulate”.
He further noted that “the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is not known for violence” alleging that the current governor of the state, Mr Rauf Aregbesola “forged a police report” to get a judgment in his favour adding that “this criminal case is still pending in the Federal High Court” promising that the case will be revisited after “his (Aregbesola) governorship business this year; we will resume his case very soon”.
Mr Omisore, who was speaking during Channels Television’s political programme, Politics Today on Sunday, noted that the case cannot be visited at the moment because of the immunity Mr Aregbesola enjoys as a governor.
