The Osun State Police Command has arraigned four men and a woman before an Ile-Ife Magistrate’s Court, in connection with the murder of one Pa Taiwo Ogundele.
It will be recalled that the octogenarian Ogundele, was killed at his residence in Igbodo Area of Ile-Ile in March this year.
The five; Ayoola Dauda, Oladipupo Lawal, Adebisi Akerele, Titus Oromakinde and Mujidat Oginni were arraigned on two-count charge of conspiracy and murder.
Addressing the court, the Police Prosecutor, Insp. Sunday Akingbade, said the accused committed the crime on March 12, 2014 at Igbodo Area, Ile-Ife.
He added that the accused persons conspired to commit felony and killed the deceased, thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under sections 319 and 324 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Volume 1 Laws of Osun, 2003.
Owing to the nature of the crime by the accused, their pleas were not taken.
The presiding Magistrate, Risikat Olayemi, maintained the court lacked jurisdiction to hear a murder case and ordered that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody.
Magistrate Olayemi, ordered that four out of the five accused be kept in Ile- Ife prison, while Mujidat Oginni, the fifth accused be remanded in Ilesa prison pending an advice from the state Director of Public Prosecution.
She subsequently adjourned the case till April 30, for mention.
