My Governorship Ambition is Not Worth the Blood of Any Osun Indigene - Omisore

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, yesterday said his desire to serve the state was not at the expense of the blood of any indigene of the state.

He also noted that his governorship ambition was about the people and that it was from them that he draw the  inspiration and determination to serve them.

The PDP candidate stated this in a statement issued by his Director of Media and Strategy, Mr. Diran Odeyemi.

Omisore added that the August 9 governorship election in the state would be a step forward from the overwhelming support that brought him in as the generally acceptable candidate of the state PDP.

He said by now, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state should  bury its head in shame for raising false alarm in respect of the very peaceful, transparent and fair primaries of the PDP in the state.

He noted that it was high time security operatives started questioning the APC whenever it raises false alarms of insecurity and bloodshed because they always accuse others of what they plan to do.

Omisore congratulated the people of the state over what it called the postponement of another orgy of violence in respect of the postponed ward congresses of the APC in the state.
He appealed to the APC to try and learn the attributes of democratic elements whenever it wishes to conduct its ward and state congresses.
‘’Although I doubt it if members of the APC have the political maturity and temperament to go through real congresses,’’ the PDP candidate noted.

Meanwhile, the Labour Party (LP) in Ekiti State has charged the Inspector General of Police (IG), Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, and heads of other security agencies to investigate the alleged attack on its members by supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) during its electioneering.

The party gave the charge in a statement issued yesterday in Ado-Ekiti by the party’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Mrs. Bolanle Olatunde-Bruce, which was made available to journalists.
Bruce alleged that the campaign train of the party was attacked in Isan, Iye and Ilawe Ekiti respectively at the weekend.

According to her, live ammunition, matchets, axes and stones were freely used in attacking faithful party members who were peacefully campaigning for Hon. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele of the LP.

She said in Isan Ekiti, the home town of the incumbent governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, “our campaign bus was shattered and battered, same at Ilawe Ekiti, the hometown of the Chief of Staff to the governor, Yemi Adaramodu.

‘In Iye Ekiti in the Ilejemeje Local Government Area, one of our youth leaders was machetted and had to be hospitalised.

“We wish to draw the attention of the federal government, the IG, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agencies as well as the good and peace loving people of the state to call the APC to order to prevent unwarranted violence in the build up to the June 21 governorship election in the state.

“Nigeria deserves peace. Ekiti State needs peace most of all in crucial times like this and our party is peace loving. We have so far conducted our affairs in a peaceful manner since political campaigns started.
