The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Adamu Mauzu, on Thursday, presented the certificate of return of the party to his governorship candidate in the August 9 governorship election in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore.
Presenting the certificate to Omisore in Abuja, Alhaji Mu'azu said "winning this primary is the beginning of the great beginning.
The election before you is not a joke. You are going to uproot a party and plant another party. It is not an easy task. But I know that you are not a small boy. You are a man and up to the task."
He urged Omisore to ensure an immediate total reconciliation with all aggrieved members of the party, especially his opponents in the primary and their supporters, in order to ensure victory for the PDP at the poll.
The national chairman of the party also enjoined members of the party to protect their votes from stolen by the opposition.
Receiving the certificate, Omisore promised to win the state for the party and as well ensure that all the aggrieved party members were brought back to the party ahead the election.
Omisore, however, accused the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, of bias ahead the August 9 election in the state.
Omisore a former deputy governor and senator of Osun State, specifically said the insistence of Jega to retain the State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Professor Olutoyin Akeju, in spite of a ruling by the court in 2010 which indicted Akeju as being a member of the All Progressives Congress(APC).
He warned that the PDP in Osun State would resist every attempt to retain Akeju to continue in office, noting they had lost confidence in his ability to conduct free, fair and credible election in the state.
A Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, had in 2010, restrained INEC, from using Akeju as the Osun State's Resident Electoral Commissioner(REC), in the coming elections and directed INEC to immediately appoint another REC for the state.
Omisore, who questioned the decision of Professor Jega to appeal a court ruling which had indicted the REC, said "the issue is that the REC in Osun State now has been proven beyond reasonable doubt by the court of competent jurisdiction, to affirm to be a card carrying member of the APC, evidenced by his action, and his history particularly on two occasions in 2010, when Wale Okediran was launching a book, he was there as a representative of Tinubu.
