Kidnapped woman causes stir in Ife North

There was a stir yesterday in Ipetumodu, headquarters of Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State, as a middle aged woman simply identified as ‘Iya Imole’, who was alleged to have been kidnapped few days ago was found at the border of the town.

The entrance of the woman into the town precipitated confusion as some residents ran helter-skelter when the woman was found lying on the ground.
Findings revealed that ‘Iya Imole’, who was allegedly kidnapped on Monday, walked into the town from the Ile-Ife express road.
Daily Sun was informed that some people in the town had been arrested in connection with the incident.
A resident, Mr. Elegbede, who volunteered information to our correspondent explained that the community had made serious efforts to locate the woman before she was eventually found in the early hours of yesterday.
According to him, the woman, who was a volunteer in the Osun Youths Empowerment Scheme (OYES), was trekking along the Ile-Ife/Ipetumodu road before she was eventually found by passersby.
He added that the woman was later taken to the palace of the Apetumodu of Ipetumodu, Oba James Adegoke, for the community to take necessary actions on her plight.
When Daily Sun visited the palace of the monarch, a large crowd had gathered to know the circumstances behind ‘Iya Imole’s’ ordeal.
However, the victim, who had been taken to a hospital in Ipetumodu for medical treatment on the directive of Oba Adegoke, was said to have lost consciousness as she could not identify anybody, including her husband and child.
Efforts to speak with Oba Adegoke failed and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the area insisted that he had not taken permission to comment on the incident from the state police command.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mrs Folashade Odoro, could not be reached as at the time of filing this report.
