The Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, has called on the
people of Ipetumodu and Asipa to sheath their swords, embrace peace and live
together harmoniously.
He made the call yesterday in his Palace when he played host
to the Justice Falola Judicial Commission of Inquiry on the Ipetumodu and Asipa
communal dispute.
Ipetumodu and Ashipa communities in Ife North Local
Government Area of Osun State had been at
each other’s throats over ownership
of land and market days.
While commending the commission for the visit to his palace,
Oba Sijuwade expressed optimism that the commission was capable of finding a
lasting solution to the communal dispute in the warring communities.
The Chairman of the Commission, Justice Jide Falola
solicited the royal support, advice and blessing in the discharge of the duty
of finding a lasting solution to communal disputes in the state.
Justice Falola explained that government of the state had
observed that communal dispute had become a perennial phenomenon that must be
tackled.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Regional Integration
and Special Duties, Mr Adewumi Adelowo, expressed the gratitude of the monarch
for the royal reception accorded the members of the commission.
At the palace during the visit were Mr Mufutau Oluwadare,
Architect Wale Ojo, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr stephen Okosone and Mr
A.T Komolafe who are all members of the commission.
